Authenticity

Authenticity of Old Roman Catholic Clerics

Historically authentic Old Roman Catholic clerics are typically listed in the Old Roman Catholic Church Directory. Further lists of Bishops and clergy are usually maintained by the various listed jurisdictions. The faithful and enquirers may consult both this list and those maintained by individual jurisdiction regarding the credentials of a cleric presenting himself as “Old Roman Catholic.” Historical Old Roman Catholic jurisdictions, which descend from the ancient See of Utrecht through Archbishop Arnold Harris Mathew in 1910 and maintain traditional Roman Catholic doctrine, are indeed very few in number.

Other Lines of Succession

Apostolic succession refers to the succession of a Bishop through other Bishops back to one or more of the Apostles and Jesus Christ Himself. Clearly there exist multiple line of Apostolic succession in Catholicism. When a new Bishop is consecrated, he possesses the succession of each of the Bishops who consecrated him. Not surprisingly, over the years some Old Roman Catholic jurisdictions also gained other lines of succession just like their other Catholic brethren.
